As pointed out by Rita Ku, there has been an increasing number of divorces in recent years between mainland couples who have migrated to Hong Kong.
Most of the couples are investment migrants, imported mainland professionals and second generation rich couples, and almost one out of every two to three mainland couples get divorced in Hong Kong. There are divorce cases after two or three years in Hong Kong due to incompatibility of personalities, and the number of divorce cases handled by law firms has also increased. Academics and social workers have pointed out that the problem of divorce among Mainland professionals and second generation rich people after their arrival in Hong Kong is complicated, and suggested that the Government should conduct more studies to understand the reasons for the divorce of Mainland couples in Hong Kong.
